The book is based on a two-year study of former prisoners at the U.S. government’s detention facility at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. Researchers interviewed more than 60 former Guantánamo detainees in nine countries, as well as key officials, military experts, and camp personnel, and the result contributes significantly to the debate surrounding the U.S.’s commitment to international law during war time.
