Greetings Fifty Year Club Friends!

Those of us who have been part of Colorado College for so many years are very attuned to the ebb and flow of events at the college. In recent months, we began another momentous era — expressing a fond and grateful farewell to President Dick Celeste and Jacqueline Lundquist and welcoming our new president, Jill Tiefenthaler and her family.

Such transitions are overflowing with mixed emotions as we share in the historic context of the college and the academic traditions of convocation, graduation, Homecoming and Parents Weekend, and inauguration. I hope you feel as I do that our presidents have contributed much to the rich history of CC in their own unique and timely way.

We all look forward to another such adventure. We hope you will plan to be on campus or at an event in your own area to be part of these festivities.

The FYC has had a busy year with the luncheon last fall to express our thanks to the Celestes and to honor the 1949 football team at their reunion; our annual Christmas luncheon; a hockey event to cheer on our CC Tigers; a briefing about the current academic program by Susan Ashley, dean of the college; CC history highlights by former Dean David Finley and George Eckhardt, assistant director of facilities services, presenting a visual tour of the many historic preservation efforts on noteworthy CC buildings.

It has been my pleasure to represent our interests on the Alumni Advisory Board. Most recently, Artie Toll Kensinger and I represented the Class of ’53 at the annual Scholarship Appreciation Dinner, honoring donors and current recipients of the college’s generous financial aid. This is perhaps the most impressive, uplifting, and reassuring of
all the opportunities I share.

Barbara Yalich ’53

P.S. Save the date! Homecoming and Parents Weekend is Oct. 14–16.
