India tripSix Colorado College students and two staff members spent their winter break on a service trip in rural India. The group worked with Maitri, a non-government organization based in India to pilot a residential school program called the 100-Day School. While there, the CC students worked with 43 children, teaching classes ranging from water erosion to history to Irish dancing.

The 100-Day School is in Melghat, a region in the centrally located state of Maharashtra, which has a high rate of illness and child mortality. Colorado College first partnered with Maitri in 2007, and since then has assisted with solar lighting, water and sanitation, agricultural, and educational projects.  Members of the international service trip worked for seven months prior to the trip, raising money, planning lessons,  and learning about India.
