Brian Joseph is senior director of Asian and World Programs at the National Endowment for Democracy in Washington, D.C.; he promotes democracy in Asia. • Shan Sethna was selected as one of The Christian Science Monitor’s “People Making A Difference” this year. Shan is executive director and a founding member of the Friends of Berthoud Pass in Colorado, a grassroots organization that uses knowledgeable backcountry volunteers to teach avalanche training classes to skiers free of charge.

1992

Filmmaker Daniel Junge’s film “Saving Face” won an Academy Award for Best Documentary-Short Subject in February. Daniel says his time at CC and in Colorado Springs had a great impact on his career. He was previously nominated for an Oscar for “The Last Campaign of Governor Booth Gardner” and an Emmy for “They Killed Sister Dorothy.” • Noel Treat of Seattle has been named deputy city manager for Mercer Island, Wash. He was previously deputy superintendent for the Seattle School District. He was one of five finalists for the city position.
