A new venture, the Collaborative for Community Engagement, has been created by blending the resources and services of the Center for Service and Learning and the Partnership for Civic Engagement. The Collaborative integrates rigorous liberal arts scholarship with community-based work, and provides opportunities for students and faculty to deepen and contextualize classroom learning. By engaging students in reciprocal and sustainable relationships with local, regional, national, and global partners, the collaborative promotes social responsibility and fosters skills for leadership and civic action. The new venture is under the direction of Jessica Copeland and the oversight of Eric Popkin, the new associate dean of Global, Community, and Summer Programs.
