Colorado College’s 140th academic year kicked off on Monday, Sept. 2, with Opening Convocation, held in Shove Memorial Chapel. Student Body President Isaac Green ’14 gave the student welcome and CC alumni Paul Franco ’78 and Susan Tachau ’76 were awarded honorary degrees. Franco, who went on to earn his Ph.D. at the University of Chicago and become a professor of government at Bowdoin College, gave the keynote address, titled “From a Small College in Colorado to a Small College in Maine.” Tachau, executive director of the Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation, has dedicated her life to helping individuals living with disabilities find the resources they need to pursue their dreams and be active participants in their communities.
