Men’s Lacrosse

CC earned its second consecutive berth in the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship, but dropped a 13-11 decision at No. 14 Amherst College in a first-round matchup May 7.

The Tigers retained possession of the Locker-Stabler Cup for the fourth year in a row with an 11-10 overtime defeat of Whittier College in front of nearly 100 alumni who returned to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Tiger Lacrosse.

Midfielder Jack Kreitler ’14 was named an honorable-mention All-American by the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

Goaltender Chase Murphy ’16 was named SCAC Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row, while attackman Jack McCormick ’17 was selected Newcomer of the Year. Murphy was joined on the all-SCAC team by attacker Tyler Allen ’14, midfielders Will Harris ’14 and Kreitler, long-stick midfielder P.J. Higgins ’14, and defenders Scott Prior ’14 and Tim Jenkins ’16. McCormick was an honorable-mention selection.

Uyenishi, Parham Receive Laura Golden and Van Diest Awards

Katie Uyenishi ’14 and Sean Parham ’14 were named recipients of the annual Laura Golden and Van Diest Awards as Colorado College’s top female and male student-athletes among the 2014 graduating class. The awards were presented May 6 during Honors Convocation at Shove Chapel.

Colorado Springs Sports Hall of Fame

Men’s Soccer Head Coach Horst Richardson and former Tiger hockey All-American Pete Geronazzo ’96 were selected to the Colorado Springs Sports Hall of Fame’s Class of 2014. They will be inducted Oct. 28.

Women’s Lacrosse

Four members of the women’s lacrosse team earned a spot on the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association’s all-West Region team after leading the Tigers to a 13-6 record. Defender Sheridan Gribbon ’14 and midfielder Mary Taussig ’17 were first-team selections, while attackers Elise Burchard ’14 and Madeline Scherer ’14 were named to the second team. Scherer set a single-season record with 60 goals.

Roush Named Academic All-American

Kaleb Roush ’14, a co-captain of the men’s swimming and diving team, capped his collegiate career by earning a spot on the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America Team. The biochemistry major with a 3.99 grade-point average was a third-team selection. Emma Holmes ’15, a mathematics major with a 3.95 GPA, was named to the All-District team.

Swimming and Diving

Austin Howlett ’15 captured All-America honors for the second consecutive season by taking fifth place in the 3-meter diving competition at the 2014 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis. He also was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Male Diver of the Year for the third straight season after winning the 1-meter diving competition at the 2014 SCAC Swimming and Diving Championships. He was unable to defend his three-meter crown due to injury.

In her first appearance at nationals, Olivia Dilorati ’16 broke her school record in the 100-yard butterfly and finished eighth in the consolation finals. She
also competed in the 200 individual medley and 200 backstroke.

The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams combined for 16 school records, set two new SCAC marks, and won 10 events en route to second-place team finishes at the 2014 SCAC Championships. Chris Garrity ’15 (100 back) and Daniel Oldendorf ’17 (200 back) also won conference championships.

On the women’s side, the Big Cats won three individual events and four relays. Dilorati took first in the 100 fly and 200 back, while Brenna Day ’14 won the 100 freestyle. Dilorati and Day were part of each relay victory, with Erin Holmes ’16, Katy Martinez ’15, Jackie Nonweiler ’16, Annalise Grigereit ’16, and Zoe Pierrat ’17 filling out the relay squads.

Track and Field

At the 2014 SCAC Track & Field Championships, Will Richmond ’15 took first place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and William Harlow ’16 won the 110-meter hurdles. Richmond also took second in the 5,000, while Harlow was runner-up in the long jump. Graham Frank ’15, who claimed third in the 1,500, also grabbed all-conference accolades.

Leah Wessler ’17 earned all-conference honors by finishing third in the 5,000 meters. The 4×100 relay team of Sydney Rogalla ’16, Terra McDowell ’16, Stephanie Wynn ’15, and Ellie Swanson ’17 turned in an all-SCAC performance with a top-three finish.
