“Becoming ‘BlacKkKlansman’: Adapting Memoir for the Screen”

Kevin Willmott is a director and screenwriter whose films include “Ninth Street” (1999), “C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America” (2004), “Bunker Hill” (2008), and “The Only Good Indian” (2009). He worked to adapt Ron Stallworth’s 2014 memoir “Black Klansman” into the 2018 Spike Lee film “BlacKkKlansman,” set in Colorado Springs and at Colorado College. “BlacKkKlansman” won the Grand Prix at the 2018 Festival de Cannes and is currently in wide theatrical release.
