Tyler McMahon ’07 in an environmental entrepreneur in Nepal. Following graduation from CC, he studied on a Fulbright Scholarship in Nepal on the Economics of Urban Rainwater Harvesting. He then spent two years at UN World Food Programme Nepal. In 2011, he co-founded SmartPaani and the company has completed over 500 systems in Kathmandu Valley, while 2500 rural household filters provide clean water to 15,000 individuals. More than 110 schools have clean filtered water, benefitting over 40,000 students. SmartPaani won the 2013 Surya Nepal Social Entrepreneur Award, the 2017 Aim 2 Flourish Award (Case Western University) and the 2018 Positive Business Silver Award (University of Michigan).
