Very large dinosaurs apparently lived in semi-arid landscapes of western North America. What physiological and/or behavioral adaptations allowed them to do this? Was it really all that arid? Specific topics of study include:
- Ecology and migratory behavior of Jurassic dinosaurs from the Morrison formation (both herbivores and carnivores; see Fricke et al 2011).
- Dinosaur body temperatures and ‘gut biology’.
- Geochemistry of paleosols and their use as records of paleoenvironmental conditions over the Morrison landscape.
