The International Conference on Romanticism announces a four-day colloquium (with around 20 scholars) on the topic of Romanticism in the Mediterranean World. We will consider proposals on any aspect of literature, art, theory, or philosophy in relation to Mediterranean Romanticism, including such topics as: Hellenism, national romanticisms of all Mediterranean regions, the classical ideal, aesthetics, art, revolution, travel, self-exile, gender, appropriations, transformations, Winkelmann’s legacy, etc.
Conference presentations will take place at The Athens Centre, an educational and cultural institution located in the central Athens area of Mets. The Athens Centre will also organize the events which take place during the conference, including field trips, housing, and other activities.
