Letter to Colorado College Hurricane Sandy Victims
Dear Alumni and Parents,
During the last week, we at Colorado College have been humbled by the stories and images of devastation from Hurricane Sandy and the subsequent Nor’easter that affected the Northeast. My heart goes out to those who have lost their loved ones, as well as to others who are struggling to return to normalcy – still without power, dealing with the damage water and wind can bring, or even attempting to find transportation. The recovery process for anyone who has been affected by these storms will not be easy. The loss is great, but strength, determination, and love are greater.
Throughout my time at Colorado College, I have learned that this place, this community, extends beyond our physical location and the four years that students spend together on campus. Once you are a CC Tiger, you remain part of our community throughout your life’s adventures and trials. When catastrophes like this happen, we become aware both of humankind’s fragility and its strength, and there is great strength in our community. Please know that students, faculty and staff on campus are supporting those students whose families may have been affected. And I know that our extended community of CC Tigers is supporting each other, as well.
During this difficult time, I will continue to keep all of those affected in my thoughts and prayers.
With warmest regards,
Jill Tiefenthaler
