Worth the Investment – Continued

A story published yesterday in Inside Higher Ed, “A Degree Still Helps,” summarizes a new study by the Pew Economic Mobility Project that finds that a college degree is indeed worth the investment, in monetary terms alone. The study “How Much Protection Does a College Degree Afford? The Impact of the Recession on Recent College Graduates” finds that those with a college degree were hurt by the recession but not as much as those without it. College graduates did experience higher unemployment and underemployment rates as well as lower earnings during the recession but those without a college diploma experienced greater drops in both employment rates and earnings.
