Programming for Half Block 2014 Announced

I share this message from Dean Mike Edmonds about the new Half Block. Parents- I hope that you will encourage your student to take advantage of this opportunity!

As we embark on the exciting process of implementing the college’s strategic plan, “The Colorado College Plan: Building on the Block,” I am proud to announce the release of new and diverse Half Block opportunities. While the traditional Half Block program is not new to CC, we’ll now be offering a Half Block experience as never seen before. Starting this winter, the Half Block will be filled with a variety of non-credit courses to help you explore interests, develop new skills, and enhance existing ones.

These offerings are designed to build on the strong foundation of skills you’re gaining through your liberal arts education by preparing you to stand out as a candidate and as a contributing member of an organization. The Half Block now provides workshops, events, and classes for an array of possibilities including:

·         GMAT, GRE, LSAT, or MCAT Test Preparation

·         Career Choices in Health Professions

·         Using Social Media to Develop Your Personal Brand and Get Hired

·         The Vocab: Critical Approaches to Spoken Word Writing and Performance

·         IT Skill Building

·         Competent Public Speaking

The Half Block will also include special activities such as jewelry making, weaving, batik, bookmaking, ice skating, an etiquette dinner, and outdoor education. As you’re making your Winter Break plans, consider whether you’ll be signing up for the first, second, or both weeks of the Half Block.
