CC Students Compete at Harvard’s Africa Business Conference

Two of our students, Paul-Miki Akpablie ’16 and Ellen Atkinson ’17, recently participated in the 2014 New Venture Competition of the 16th Annual Africa Business Conference at Harvard Business School.  The Africa Business Conference aims to move Africa forward through education, sustainable job creation, and entrepreneurship.  This year’s theme was “Africa Accelerates: Equipping a Vibrant African Economy.”

Paul-Miki and Ellen pitched their social enterprise, Kadi Energy, a venture focused on using innovative battery and solar technology to create energy solutions that power lives and social change in Sub-Saharan Africa. Their first product is the Kadi Mobile Charger, an affordable solar-charging product for small devices.  Although Kadi Energy did not win the competition, the business received much interest at the competition and is moving forward.
