SONG OF THE DAY: Neon Indian – “Polish Girl”

I’ve been bumping Neon Indian’s new album Era Extraña (Mom + Pop Music, 2011) repeatedly since its release. The album was recorded entirely in Helsinki, Finland in the middle of a frosty winter.  As a teaser to the album, lead singer Alan Palomo released clips of him walking around Helsinki  while looking mysteriously cool. The album doesn’t sound like it was recorded in winter though – it channels a vibrant, summer vibe reminiscent of their debut album, Psychic Chasms. “Polish Girl” is the first single off the new album and is definitely one of my favorites. It highlights Palomo’s musical growth; it feels much more mature and well crafted than anything off the last album. Check it out!
