DJ PLAYLIST OCT19-25

Every week SOCC DJs curate a playlist of new music. This week's DJ playlist includes tracks from student band Drunk Uncle, Glitch Mob, and experimental hip-hop artist Milo. It's an eclectic mix and is sure to have something for everyone. Check it out, share it with a friend, enjoy!
SONG OF THE DAY: VIOLENT FEMMES – “BLISTER IN THE SUN”

SONG OF THE DAY: VIOLENT FEMMES – “BLISTER IN THE SUN”

I won't lie, the reason this is the song of the day is simply that I heard a student band play it the other day and I love this tune. Been jamming to it since then, and decided to remind everybody of it. Violent Femmes are weirdly active then inactive then active again, but this song is a perennial classic. Whatever it's even about. Give it a listen.
SONG OF THE DAY: BOMBADIL – “THANK YOU”

SONG OF THE DAY: BOMBADIL – “THANK YOU”

This is one of those simple, calming songs you absentmindedly stick onto your "Study" or "Nighttime" playlist, then realize it doesn't belong there because the beautifully insightful lyrics keep distracting you from trying to read about energy policy developments in China. It's a feel-good song, a warm cup of chili in musical form. Plus, the lyrics overflow with valuable life advice if you're paying any attention at all.
SONG OF THE DAY: CAGE THE ELEPHANT – “COME A LITTLE CLOSER”

SONG OF THE DAY: CAGE THE ELEPHANT – “COME A LITTLE CLOSER”

I hope y'all haven't forgotten about Cage The Elephant, because these guys are great. Everyone knows them for "Ain't No Rest For The Wicked" that came out in like, 2008, but I swear they've put out good music since then. For example: "Come a Little Closer." It's a bop by any measure, and I was reminded of it yesterday, so I bring it to you today. Have fun with the jam, and find more on Cage The Elephant's Spotify. They also have an album coming out December 18th.
