Colorado College is excited to host the annual James ‘Al’ Johnson Memorial Speech and Debate Tournament September 22-24 and we need your help. The tournament runs Friday-Sunday during first block break and is expected to have record attendance.

We need 12-15 judges (that’s you!) to judge NPDA (National Parliamentary Debate Association) debate and/or Speech events. NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY, WE PROVIDE A FUN 20-30 MINUTE TRAINING. You will receive pay of $15/round (rounds last about 1-1.25 hours), and we will keep you well-fed throughout tournament. We do need staff to commit to at least one day (rather than 2 or 3 hours here and there) as your name gets entered into a computer system by tabulation. Judging is a lot of fun–and I guarantee you will leave inspired by the work put forth by these students. Please sign up to judge by contacting Sarah Hinkle at X6509 or shinkle@coloradocollege.edu. The deadline to sign up is September 10. Thank you!

The Butler Center’s Signature program is our 1st Generation Collegiate program.
It is a block-ly gathering of 1st Generation (enrolled) College students.
This year, we would like to more intentionally connect our 1st Gen students to CC faculty and staff who were 1st Gen graduates. Please email Pearl Leonard-Rock at plr@coloradocollege.edu if interested in learning more.

Learning music through the Guitar is a great way to engage children in the music process. Colorado College’s own Dale Miller has an excellent Guitar program designed for young children called Childbloom. Neil Hesse, also a CC music graduate, has joined Dale as an instructor. Please call 719-573-0575, or visit the website at Childbloomguitar.com for details, pricing, and a complimentary lesson.
