Building on the annual CC Day of Service, this year the CCE is organizing an expanded “Week of Action” from September 29th – October 7th. During this time, the CCE is working to provide opportunities to inspire staff and faculty, as well as students, to engage in our community.

I would like to take a moment to encourage you to take advantage of an opportunity during this week to learn more about Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region. Through a collaboration between the CCE, Leadership Pikes Peak, and TIAA, you can participate in a condensed (and free!) “Experience the Springs” session.

Information on registration will follow, but a “Save the Date” is included below, as well as a draft agenda, if you are interested. If you have questions, reach out to the CCE Community Partnership Coordinator Niki Sosa at nsosa@coloradocollege.edu.

Membership in the CC Choir is open for Fall, 2018!. Faculty, students, staff, and members of the community are all welcome. THERE IS NO AUDITION! Rehearsals are Mondays 4:00-5:30 in the Cornerstone Arts Center Flex Room. FIRST REHEARSAL was August 27. This 70-90 voice concert choir presents major concerts with orchestra, in Shove Chapel. To join, purchase the music in the bookstore and attend a rehearsal in block 1. This choir is offered Fall semester ONLY. Questions? Email Deborah Teske dteske@coloradocollege.edu

The Butler Center is seeking faculty and staff members interested in becoming mentors within the Men’s Leadership Initiative to undergraduate, self-identified men, including transmasculine individuals. Eligible mentors will be self-identified men, including transmasculine individuals, willing to invest in the personal development of students, especially in areas pertaining to manhood and masculinity. In following with the Men’s Leadership Initiative’s mission, mentors will be responsible for creating a brave space for their mentee to discuss and interrogate masculinities, patriarchy, and other critical issues centered on inclusion and equity. Learning, development, and coaching is available for interested faculty/staff mentors.

The Print Shop hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday will be 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
On Tuesday and Thursday, the hours will be 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The Print Shop is closed on the weekends.

“The Unmaking of Tiger Lily: A Creative Work”

Tiger Lily, proudly erect, a princess in her own right . is the most beautiful of dusky Dianas and the belle of the Piccaninnies, coquettish, cold and amorous by turns; there is not a brave who would not have the wayward thing to wife, but she staves off the altar with a hatchet. (J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan and Wendy).

In this series of short fiction pieces, Tiger Lily begins questioning her name (or misnaming) and the very descriptions that call her into being. In doing so, she must navigate what it means to embody the desires, fascinations, and fears of Neverland’s inhabitants and guests-including that of the author and reader. Through her interactions with the novel’s characters, her account of her village and tribe’s simulated performances, and her nightly wanderings and daydreams, it’s possible the “never” of Neverland doesn’t mean never growing up, but for her, never truly existing in the first place.

Our onsite chair massage program resumes today, September 5, 2018. A massage therapist will be on campus most Wednesdays.

Employees may book massages in increments of 15 minutes ($1/minute).

If you want to try a chair massage, follow these easy steps to sign-up:

The cost is $1/minute (15 minute minimum). The massage therapists will take
