This is just a reminder that we are nearing the end of benefits open enrollment. Be sure to turn in your forms (if applicable) not later than Friday, May 24th.

. Open Enrollment is your opportunity to enroll in a new benefit, drop a current benefit, and/or change a coverage level (by adding/dropping dependents). This is your only opportunity to make a change to your medical, dental, vision, flexible spending account, prepaid legal plan and/or voluntary personal accident plan for the 2019-20 fiscal year unless you experience a qualified life event.

. Most benefit changes made during open enrollment will be effective July 1, 2019. However, you may enroll in pet insurance, identity theft insurance, life insurance and/or MetLife personal lines of insurance at any time during the year. You must complete and submit a health questionnaire and be accepted by The Standard before life insurance is added. See details on page 16 of the open enrollment booklet for details. You may also begin/change/stop voluntary contributions to the retirement and/or Emeriti plans throughout the year.

. If you make no changes at all during the open enrollment period, your benefits will remain the same (except the Flexible Spending Account [FSA]).

. If you are NOT making any changes to your medical, dental, and/or vision plan please do NOT return the Benefits Election Form. If you ARE making changes to your medical, dental, and/or vision plan please note those changes on the Benefits Election Form and return it by May 24, 2019.

. FSAs are an annual enrollment – unlike other benefits, FSA elections are not automatically retained from year to year. If you want to participate in the Flexible Spending Account Plan for 2019-2020, you must re-enroll during open enrollment.

. If you want to see your current benefit elections, they are available in Self-Service Banner (SSB) under the Employee tab, Benefits & Deductions link, Current Benefit Selection link. With ‘current’ in the drop-down box, choose select to see your current benefit elections.

. While you are in SSB, please go to the Personal tab and verify your address, phone, emergency contacts, ethnicity, race, and gender are correct. You can make changes yourself to your emergency contact as well as your ethnicity, race, and gender information. Changes to your address or phone number must be sent to

We have one more ‘office hours’ for open enrollment on Friday, May 17 from 9:30 – 11:00 in the Tutt Library Event Space.

If you have any questions about your benefits, please contact Gina Lujan at 389-6104 ( or Laurie Mozingo at 389-6422 (
