We will read Split Tooth by Tanya Taqag. Please email Victoria Levine by Nov. 21 if you would like to attend and a book will be delivered to your office. This novel was shortlisted for the 2018 Kobo Emerging Writer Prize, the 2019 Amazon First Novel Award, and won the 2019 Alcuin Society Award for Excellence in Book Design. Reviewers wrote, “Tagaq’s surreal meld of poetry and prose transmutes the Arctic’s boundless beauty, intensity, and desolation into a wrenching contemporary mythology” (The New Yorker). Tagaq, who is Inuk, is an improvisational performer, avant-garde composer, and experimental recording artist; she won the 2014 Polaris Music Prize, among many other honors and awards. She will return to CC in January, 2020 as part of Cornerstone Arts Week, reading from Split Tooth on January 30 and performing Retribution with her band on January 31.
