Why does it matter that Jesus lived and died under imperial rule? How did Christian ideas shape the modern world? How has the Bible been used to dominate and exclude, and how has it been used to resist? Explore these and other questions in RE 130: Christianity-an introduction to what is arguably world history’s most consequential tradition. Local field trips offer first-hand familiarity with Christianity’s surprising diversity across lines of race, gender, and class. Next taught in Block 6 by Prof. Devaka Premawardhana.
