DS/TH 200: MAKING SPACE: SITE PERFORMANCE INTERVENTION
Meet in Cornerstone 130 on Monday at 10:45 am

For movers, actors, performance-makers, visual artists, social activists and adventurous students.

How might you perform within a particular location off the stage and outside the classroom? Past examples include a rock quarry, a pedestrian mall, an abandoned warehouse, a crosswalk. How does a place move its occupants and how might we reconstitute a place with your actions? How might we re-imagine a public place to change it into a space of new possibilities? Or, how might a performance intervene as a public and spatial discourse of social accord or dissent? Sites both on and off campus will be mined as possible performance locations for our artistic explorations and social interventions. No dance, theatre or performance experience is required to enjoy and take part in this course.

Hi there Tiger student musicians!
It’s that time of year when all you “jazzers” have an opportunity to try out for the Tiger Jazz Band! It’s an exciting new school year, and it presents you with an opportunity to learn, expand and apply the jazz language – together with fellow student musicians – in a dynamite ensemble setting. We’ll be covering various jazz improvisation topics to help you either kickstart your skills, or hone the skills you’re already developing. Plus, we’ll have lots of ensemble playing that will assist you in maturing that “sound & style” that we all love!

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, August 29th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm! The sign up sheet is located outside room 136.

I hope you’ll sign up and come “strut your stuff”!

Cully Joyce
Instructor, Tiger Jazz
