Are you still looking for a Block 2 class? There is space in Art of the Maya! The course covers Maya art and hieroglyphic writing from 500 BCE to the 16th century and is organized both chronologically and thematically. Topics include the Maya artist, warfare and sacrifice, representing the human form, and performance. We’ll also work with objects in the Fine Arts Center and the Denver Art Museum, study the effect of Colonialism on research agendas and the living Maya, and discuss the ethics of museum display.

The course is cross-listed with the Anthropology Department (AN208), if that better suits your requirements.

Contact mrubenstein@coloradocollege.edu with any questions.
