The first event in the MacLean Symposium on Writing as Craft and Career: In Honor of Ruth Barton will be a panel discussion, “CC Alumni Writers Discuss Writing at CC: Remembering Ruth Barton”, on Thursday, April 5, at 7:00 PM in the Cornerstone Screening Room. All are welcome to join six acclaimed authors who studied under Ruth Barton at CC: Michael Nava, novelist; David Owen, journalist; Russell Martin, novelist and nonfiction writer, Jeannette Barnes, poet and editor; Alan Prendergast, journalist, and David Mason poet, writer and CC professor. They discuss what they have done as writers, their experiences as student writers and mentees of Ruth Barton, how her mentorship and Colorado College helped shape their development as writers, and the general importance of mentors to aspiring writers. Those students in any majors who aspire to be writers in any genre or endeavor are especially welcome. Sponsored by the English Department with the support of the D. J. MacLean Fund for English.
