Spring is an exciting time of year, especially with graduation just around the corner. Whether you are planning to travel outside of Colorado Springs at the end of the academic year, or have family and friends coming to join in year-end celebrations, travel has an environmental cost. In fact, transportation generates some of the largest shares of greenhouse gas emissions on the planet and plays a pivotal role in climate change. Would you reduce your or your family and friends carbon footprint if you could?

The Office of Sustainability has created a travel calculator that collects voluntary contributions through a carbon offset fund. Basically, this money goes into a fund that invests in projects that remove carbon or prevent greenhouse gas emission from entering the atmosphere, such as various landfill gas destruction projects in Colorado, Utah, and Oklahoma.

Investing made easy – simply input your start and end points and our calculator does the rest! Do your part to combat climate change by offsetting friend, family, and personal travel here: www.coloradocollege.edu/offices/sustainability/resources/travel-offset.html?com
