This course is only offered in alternate years. It was inadvertently left out of the 2019-2020 course schedule. This extended format course is open to singers AND instrumentalists and will meet weekly, blocks 1-8, for the 2019-2020 academic year. Topics will include the basics of conducting, baton technique, the philosophy and history of conducting, score analysis, and rehearsal technique.

The Colorado College Chamber Chorus announces auditions for 2019-2020. This 24-32 -voice select choir performs music in many styles, both a cappella and with instruments. Rehearsals are every Tuesday from 4:00-5:30, plus some additional time for sectionals TBA. Auditions are August 29 and 30 in the afternoon, by appointment. Arjun Singh Sethi is an internationally recognized human and civil rights lawyer, writer, activist, and professor. He has worked closely with communities targeted by hate, state violence, and surveillance for more than a decade. His essays have appeared in The Washington Post, The Guardian, The Los Angeles Times, USA Today, and CNN, and he is featured regularly on national radio and television. Arjun holds faculty appointments at Georgetown University Law Center and Vanderbilt University Law School and co-chairs the American Bar Association’s National Committee on Homeland Security, Terrorism, and Treatment of Enemy Combatants.

We invite all CC students to audition for the fall 2019 production of Spring Awakening, presented jointly by the departments of Theatre & Dance and Music. This collaborative endeavor requires a full commitment on the part of the cast, so please carefully consider your time commitments before auditioning. All students cast will also receive free voice-lessons (with .25 academic credit) for the fall semester.
Auditions take place the first week of block 1: CAC Flex Room
Tuesday, 8/27: 7-9pm
Wednesday, 8/28: 7-9pm
Thursday, 8/29: 7-9pm (call backs)
Audition Requirements:
– 2-minute selection from a ballad (no songs from Spring Awakening; please bring sheet music in the appropriate key for piano accompanist, printed double-sided and in a binder for easy page turning)
– Cold Read, script provided at audition.
– List of all conflicts in Blocks 2 & 3
Sign up for your 5-minute audition time slot starting in August.
Sign Up sheet is on the bulletin board outside Shaylan Quinn’s office (CAC 320). Students that miss their allotted slot may not be allowed to audition, so please plan accordingly.
