Please join the Department of Spanish and Portuguese in honoring the career of Professor Clara Lomas on Friday, September 27th from 4:00-6:00PM in the Fine Arts Center lobby, followed by a performance by Son Como Son, an Albuquerque-based Afro-Cuban salsa band, on Tava Quad from 7:00-9:00PM.

David Cole, the National Legal Director of the American Civil Liberties Union, is coming to CC on September 3rd to discuss “Defending Liberty in Perilous Times: Why Courts Can’t Do It Alone, and What That Means for the Rest of Us.” The lecture will be at 7:00 PM in Kathryn Mohrman Theatre, and tickets are available at the Worner Desk!

Cole has litigated many constitutional cases in the Supreme Court including Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, in which the ACLU represented a gay couple refused service by a bakery because they sought a cake to celebrate their wedding.

The lecture will be followed with audience questions and a book signing.
