An upcoming workshop on campus promises to provoke thoughtful and challenging discussion that allows students, faculty, and staff to come together as a community and think about essential issues.<\/p>\n
The local chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, Beta of Colorado, along with the CC Crown Faculty Center\u00a0and President Jill Tiefenthaler, invite you to take part in a Phi Beta Kappa Deliberation Workshop\u00a0Friday, Feb.\u00a024<\/strong>, 3-4:30\u00a0p.m. in Gaylord Hall, Worner Campus Center.<\/p>\n Jane Murphy, associate professor of history and director of the Crown Faculty Center, is a Phi Beta Kappa member, and says, \u201cWhat liberal learning is or\u00a0should\u00a0be\u00a0and how we enact liberal learning are always relevant questions for\u00a0a campus with our aspirations. The selected reading for the workshop\u00a0cuts to the heart of several ongoing\u00a0initiatives\u00a0and questions we are already discussing. This deliberation workshop allows us to\u00a0further these discussions and become a more informed community.\u201d<\/p>\n The workshop will be led by Brooke Vick \u201997, associate\u00a0professor of psychology\u00a0at Whitman\u00a0College.\u00a0Vick has titled this deliberation, \u201cThe \u2018R\u2019 Word: Acknowledging Racism While Valuing Diversity.\u201d Students, faculty, and staff are all invited to attend the workshop and contribute to these discussions.<\/p>\n Space is limited and refreshments will be provided during the event.
