{"id":3826,"date":"2018-09-19T20:18:43","date_gmt":"2018-09-19T20:18:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/atb\/?p=3826"},"modified":"2018-09-24T14:39:02","modified_gmt":"2018-09-24T14:39:02","slug":"lostroh-and-udis-kessler-release-third-album","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/atb\/2018\/09\/19\/lostroh-and-udis-kessler-release-third-album\/","title":{"rendered":"Lostroh and Udis-Kessler Release Third Album"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Leah Veldhuisen \u201919<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Although Associate Professor of Molecular Biology Phoebe Lostroh and Director of Assessment and Program Review Amanda Udis-Kessler have been a couple since 1997, they were making music together long before.<\/p>\n<p>They recently released their third album, \u201cRejoice: Songs and Hymns\u201d under the band name EverySoul. The album contains 15 original songs and liberal religious hymns written by Udis-Kessler. The idea for the album started when Udis-Kessler was preparing for liver cancer treatment and wanted to compose at least one more album.<\/p>\n<p>About the music, Lostroh says, \u201cI want to help make the world a better place by encouraging people who value social justice,\u201d and, \u201cto make music that will help sustain activists in times of trouble and make us feel less alone.\u201d The duo hopes to have the album included in the Unitarian Universalist Church\u2019s music, which Lostroh says is quite remarkable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are almost no other out queer women writers in U.S. church hymnals \u2014 Amanda is one of the very few, with a song in the Unitarian Universalist hymnal,\u201d she explains.
