{"id":4002,"date":"2019-10-03T19:07:40","date_gmt":"2019-10-03T19:07:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/atb\/?p=4002"},"modified":"2019-10-03T19:07:40","modified_gmt":"2019-10-03T19:07:40","slug":"students-partner-with-pikes-peak-justice-and-peace-commission-for-archival-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.coloradocollege.edu\/atb\/2019\/10\/03\/students-partner-with-pikes-peak-justice-and-peace-commission-for-archival-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Students Partner With Pikes Peak Justice and Peace Commission for Archival Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By <strong>Miriam Brown \u201921<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the next three months, <strong>Arielle Gordon \u201921<\/strong> will be sorting through crates of documents in the Collaborative for Community Engagement\u2019s basement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited,\u201d she says. \u201cI don\u2019t know what sort of hidden gems we have.<\/p>\n<p>The crates contain memos from meetings, newspaper clippings, undated photographs, and other documents belonging to the Pikes Peak Justice and Peace Commission, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for issues of peace, justice, and sustainability. In celebration of the organization\u2019s 40th anniversary, Gordon will be working with other CC students to read, organize, preserve, and share 40 years of archived documents with the community.<\/p>\n<p>Gordon is a member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coloradocollege.edu\/offices\/cce\/our-work\/student-learning-and-programs\/community-engaged-scholars\/community-engaged-leaders\/community-engaged-leaders.html\">Community Engaged Leaders<\/a> program, a three-year program designed by the CCE to integrate civic leadership into students\u2019 everyday lives, and this project will serve as one of the final pieces of the program \u2014 her capstone project.<\/p>\n<p>But for Gordon, the project is more than a short-term project.
