CC filmmakers went on to take first place in each of the five categories as well as second runner-up in the \u201cBest of the Midwest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CC filmmakers won awards for:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best of the Midwest, 1st place:<\/strong> \u201cBarkley 100\u201d by <strong>Brendan Young \u201914<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Best of the Midwest, 2nd runner up:<\/strong> \u201cSolo\u201d by <strong>Thomas Crandall \u201916<\/strong>, <strong>Andrew DesLauriers \u201916<\/strong>, and <strong>Elle Gannon \u201918<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Social Impact:<\/strong> \u201cTurning Point\u201d by <strong>Charles Theobald \u201917<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Production Value:<\/strong> \u201cBlack Forest\u201d by <strong>Robert Mahaffie \u201915<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Original Concept:<\/strong> \u201cXO\u201d by K<strong>aitlyn Hickmann \u201918<\/strong>, \u2028<strong>Georgia Griffis \u201918<\/strong>, and <strong>Corrina Leatherwood \u201918<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Screenplay:<\/strong> \u201cDog Days\u201d by <strong>Malcolm Barnes \u201915<\/strong>, <strong>Charley Bayley \u201915<\/strong>, and <strong>Dillon Tanner \u201915<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Five students took a red-eye flight from Los Angeles, where they were taking a Block 7 class on filmmaking in Hollywood, to Appleton, proof of their dedication to filmmaking.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colorado College swept the awards at the first ACM Film Festival, held at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin.
