\"Four<\/strong><\/a>

Four friends from the Class of \u201981 met for a combined 50th birthday party at Disneyland on Heather Palmer\u2019s birthday in May. From left: Mark Riedesel, the patient spouse of Heather, Heather Palmer, Jolina Ward Borah, Karen-Beth Goldberg Scholthof, and Kathleen Fahringer Christopherson. All are wearing the special glasses for viewing \u201cA Bug\u2019s Life,\u201d which Heather says \u201cmakes each of us look just like we did at 18 \u2014 ha ha!\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n

Chris Reed<\/strong> and his wife, Diane, created a fundraising program aimed at elementary schools across the country. The products feature the whimsical cartoon illustrations Chris has been producing in his studio for the past 25 years. The program has been received enthusiastically by PTAs and PTOs, and can be viewed at www.MonkeyBarsDesign.com<\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n

Janet Friedman\u00ad Pizzo<\/strong> coaches competitive debate with her husband, Joseph L. Pizzo, in a Butte Falls, Ore., school with 67 students. Most of their students are economically disadvantaged, living at or below the poverty line. Janet received her master\u2019s degree in liberal arts from Texas Christian University in July 2008.<\/p>\n

LauraHershey<\/strong>received her master\u2019s degree in fine arts in creative writing in June 2008 from Antioch College. She is a poet, activist, and consultant who writes about body, nature, community activism, social justice, and more. She is the author of \u201cSurvival Strategies for Going Abroad: A Guide for People with Disabilities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Timothy L. Wilkinson <\/strong>joined the firm of Riverbridge Partners, LLC, in Minneapolis, as director of investment management. Tim is primarily responsible for client development, working with institutional clients and intermediaries across the country. Tim was previously managing director in institutional equities sales for Robert W. Baird & Co.<\/p>\n

\u201985<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u201cHome is Where You Find It,\u201d a documentary produced by BYkids, won the Directorial Discovery Award at the Rhode Island International Film Festival and Best Documentary Short at DocuWest. BYkids is a non\u00adprofit organization that pairs American filmmakers with youth ages 8\u201321 from around the world to create short documentaries that educate Americans about globally relevant issues. Holly Ornstein Carter<\/strong> is the group\u2019s founder and director. The film was directed by Alcides Soares, a 16\u00adyear\u00adold Mozambique boy who lost both parents to AIDS. Two renowned filmmakers, Chris Zallay and Neal Baer \u201978<\/strong>, went to Maputo, Mozambique, in 2007 to help Alcides learn the art of filmmaking and direct the film that chronicles his story as a boy living alone in the world. The film was the group\u2019s first from Mozambique.<\/p>\n

Stefanie Robinson Bauer <\/strong>lives in Santa Monica, Calif., where she works as an artist and residential paint and color consultant. She has exhibited her artwork in Los Angeles, Chicago, Colorado, and Florence, Italy. Her art is featured on her Web site www.oneeyedgirls.com<\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n

Randi Isaacson\u2019s<\/strong> Post Road Art Center in Marlborough, Mass., was featured in an article in the August 24 edition of the Milford<\/em> (Mass.) Daily News<\/em>. Randi displays the work of painters and photographers from across the region.<\/p>\n

Kenneth W .Sims <\/strong>is an associate professor in the department of geology and geophysics at the University of Wyoming. He had been an associate scientist with tenure in the department of geology and geophysics at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.<\/p>\n

Gloria Dossett<\/strong> is currently completing a Ph.D. in theater at the University of Missouri, and co\u00addirected an original play, \u201cThe Confessional,\u201d for the New York International Fringe Festival to rave reviews.<\/p>\n

\"Three<\/a>

Three Colorado College alumni traveled to Malaysia this summer for the U.S.-Malaysia Women\u2019s Soccer Exchange. They coached soccer camps for girls, ran coaching clinics, and ran a training session for the Malaysian Women\u2019s National Soccer Team. This fall, they hosted a Malaysian contingency as they toured the U.S. Janine Szpara, Anna Shortt Thomas, and Karen Willoughby (all Class of \u201989, from left), stand on a bridge in Malaysia with their fellow athletes.<\/p><\/div>\n

Andrew Garner<\/strong> was named to the Committee on Special Education for the Harlem, N.Y., area. He earned his master\u2019s degree in English literature from the City College of New York and has been working as an English teacher in the New York City public schools for the past two decades. He has been recognized as a founding member of a public prep school in Harlem that has been copied throughout the nation.<\/p>\n

Sebastian Suhl<\/strong> is the new chief operating officer of the Prada Group. Sebastian is heading the company\u2019s retail, wholesale, Internet\u00adcommerce, and marketing departments for the Prada brand, Miu Miu and Car Sho. He has relocated to Milan, his company\u2019s head office.<\/p>\n

Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry appointed Jill Weedon<\/strong> as associate district judge for Custer County in Oklahoma. Jill earned her J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1992. She worked in private practice in Clinton from 1992 to 1999. For the last decade, she has served as a special judge in Custer County.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
