Tava Quad Blessing and Breakfast<\/h4>\n

Join members of the Southern Ute and Ute Mountain Ute Tribes and the campus community for a special blessing and naming ceremony of Tava Quad (formerly Armstrong Quad). \u201cTava\u201d means \u201cSun Mountain\u201d and was the name used by the Ute people for Pikes Peak. The naming of the quad honors and pays respect to the Utes and all indigenous peoples of the Americas. Breakfast to follow.<\/p>\n

Butler Center Open House<\/h4>\n

Alumni are invited to join us for a networking event facilitated by Butler Center staff and students.<\/p>\n

Indigenous Peoples and Native American Picnic Performance<\/h4>\n

During the Homecoming picnic, performers from the Southern Ute and Ute Mountain tribes will present songs and dances in a festive exhibition of Ute culture.<\/p>\n

Speakers include Susan Brister \u201979, Ellen Burton \u201979, Mike Ibarra \u201979, Sue Lyon \u201979, Annie Petsonk \u201979, Terry Swenson \u201979, <\/strong>and Tim Tymcovich \u201979, P\u201910. Ed Goldstein \u201979 <\/strong>will moderate.<\/p>\n

\u201cGet Together: 1969 and the Music of the \u201960s\u201d<\/h4>\n

Craig Werner, the son of late CC Professor Ray O. Werner, taught Afro-American studies and American cultural history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison until his retirement earlier this year. A longtime member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominating committee, his books \u201cA Change Is Gonna Come: Music, Race and the Soul of America\u201d and \u201cWe Gotta Get Out of This Place: The Soundtrack of the Vietnam War\u201d are widely recognized as authoritative works on American rock and soul.<\/p>\n

Over the course of one tumultuous year, artist and director Amy Jenkins \u201988<\/strong> confronts the cancer diagnoses of her mother, sister, and brother, and also welcomes her first child to life.
