Gannon hopes to use the award to pursue a  master\u2019s degree in business at Northwestern University. Former CC  great <strong>Doug Palazzari \u201974<\/strong> is among five individual inductees  who will enter the Colorado Springs Sports Hall of Fame in November  as members of its 10th Anniversary Class.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s Soccer<\/h3>\n<p>Led by forward <strong>Sarah Wolff<\/strong> <strong>\u201910<\/strong>, who  also earned the Conference USA Commissioner&#8217;s Academic Medal for the  second consecutive year, 19 members of the women\u2019s soccer team were  named to the league&#8217;s Academic Honor Roll for 2008-09. Rider earned first-team honors for the second year in a row,  while Dougherty was a repeat selection on the second team. Maloney,  also a second teamer, is the first Tiger to earn all-region honors as  a freshman since <strong>Helen Sneath \u201906<\/strong> in 2003.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s Tennis<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Dan Solomon \u201909<\/strong> was named all-conference for the second time after leading the Tigers  to sixth place at the 2009 SCAC championships. Solomon, ranked No. 13  in the West Region by the ITA, was the only player to go 4-0 at the  competition. Brainerd then won the 5,000 meters and took second  in the 1,500 at the 2009 SCAC championship meet, while <strong>Max Gerken  \u201912<\/strong> turned in a season-best 9:52.78 to claim second in the  3,000-meter steeplechase.<\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s Track and  Field<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Brittney Moore \u201910<\/strong> set a school record in the 400  meters with 57.69 clocking at the Occidental Invitational, bettering  the mark set by All-American <strong>Heather O&#8217;Brien \u201999<\/strong> in 1998. At  the SCAC championships, Moore finished second in the triple jump and  third in the 400 to earn all-conference in both events.<\/p>\n<h3>Men&#8217;s  Basketball<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Lance Jacobs \u201909<\/strong>, who helped lead CC to a 4-11  mark in league play, earned honorable mention in the all-SCAC  voting.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s Basketball<\/h3>\n<p>Forward <strong>Eliese  Hansberry \u201910<\/strong> was an honorable mention all-SCAC selection after  helping the Tigers go 16-9 overall and record their most victories  since 1989-90.<\/p>\n<h3>Swimming and Diving<\/h3>\n<p>The \u201cBig  Cats\u201d set four NCAA qualifying times, 27 school records and 126  lifetime bests at   the 2009 SCAC championships. With a total of eight school records,  she graduated as one of CC\u2019s most dominating swimmers ever. <strong>Jordan  DeGayner \u201912 <\/strong>set three school records, swam a leg on four  record-setting relay teams, achieved two NCAA qualifying standards,  and led the Tigers with 48 points. <strong>Connor Barton \u201912<\/strong> won the  100 butterfly, was part of four record-setting relays, posted an NCAA  qualifying time, and tied for second along with <strong>Tom Grossinger \u201911<\/strong> with 46 points.<\/p>\n<h3>CC Athletics Hall of Fame<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Doug Lidster \u201983<\/strong> (hockey), <strong>Arron Lujan \u201995<\/strong> (soccer), and <strong>Tom Southall \u201984 <\/strong>(football\/track and field) officially were inducted into the CC  Athletics Hall of Fame on May 9.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Auguste, Blaustein named top senior athletes Seniors Melanie Auguste \u201909 and Billy Blaustein \u201909 were named recipients of the annual Laura Golden and Van Diest Awards as CC\u2019s top female and male student-athletes among the 2009 graduating class.
