On YouTube, there\u2019s a video of Jeremy Zucker \u201918<\/a> sitting in a small, white room holding a guitar and looking into the camera.<\/p>\n

\u201cHello everybody. Now we\u2019re coming in. 500, 600, 700, 800 people. Sick. What\u2019s up? A thousand people \u2026 in the chat. Let\u2019s go! 1,100. Hmmm. Okay, I\u2019m gonna start. We got 1,200. My name is Jeremy Zucker. I\u2019m a songwriter, producer, artist, singer.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the next 35 minutes, he plays songs. Afterward, he says, \u201cThank you for your love and support. Hopefully I\u2019ll get to meet all 318,000 of you.\u201d Zucker looks surprised by that final number. His face and words betray his humility as he says, \u201cI\u2019m taking another screenshot of this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zucker could easily add the words wildly successful <\/em>before the word artist<\/em>. At the end of the video, he looks awestruck and grateful.<\/p>\n

He\u2019ll begin a world tour in March 2022 and likely will meet some of those 318,000 folks. He returned to Colorado for a show in Denver in November 2021. \u201cI always love coming back to Colorado,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

At Colorado College, you wouldn\u2019t have pegged the pre-med major for a musician.<\/p>\n

But long before he began his molecular biology studies, Zucker, 25, was falling in love, albeit slowly, with his first love. \u201cI got into music at about 6-years-old with lessons. I remember hating it.\u201d<\/p>\n

After his first lesson, he recalls writing a little piano ditty and showing it to his teacher, who gently told him that he hadn\u2019t written \u201ca real song.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEver since then I\u2019ve felt a strong urge to prove myself with music,\u201d Zucker says.<\/p>\n

Mission accomplished. Zucker\u2019s music, which he dubs \u201calt\/ indie-pop,\u201d has garnered millions of streams.<\/p>\n

Zucker admits he never considered music as a viable career path. \u201cThat\u2019s why I decided to study molecular biology. I\u2019ve always said that science is my interest and music is my passion. And no matter how many hours I was studying, I always found my way to my makeshift studio in the basement of Mathias.\u201d<\/p>\n

He adds that he believes the Block Plan improved his work ethic. \u201cI\u2019ve always struggled with multitasking and time management; I generally work the best when I\u2019m able to hyper-focus on individual tasks.\u201d<\/p>\n

His advice for today\u2019s students: \u201cTrust your gut. At the end of the day, art is an expression of subjective human experience.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
