Ed Pelz <\/strong>wrote us to say that several \u201938ers were in touch with their classmates at Christmas 2009: Dick Alderson<\/strong> and Agnes Sands Johnson<\/strong> of Colorado Springs; Doris Barton Andrews<\/strong> of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; Chuck Axtell<\/strong> of Northridge, Calif.; Bob Dukes<\/strong> of Denver; and Bob Nelson<\/strong> of Tampa, Fla. Ed also remarked that the April 2010 Bulletin\u2019s cover photo, by Stephen Weaver, reminded him of his love for mountains: \u201cWashington\u2019s Olympics and Cascades as a child; Colorado\u2019s Front Range as a CC student and San Juans as a middle-aged vacation landowner; and now as a senior, back and forth all the time in Eastern New York\u2019s Taconics, Southern Vermont\u2019s Greens, and Western Massachusetts\u2019 Berkshires.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stanley W. Boucher<\/strong> and Virginia Parker Boucher \u201951<\/strong> celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a party in June at their home in Boulder, Colo. Among the guests at the party were five who attended the wedding, June 2, 1950, in Shove Memorial Chapel, including Vernon J. Twombly \u201949<\/strong>, an usher, and the groom\u2019s brother, Gary W. Boucher \u201963<\/strong>, the candle lighter. The groom\u2019s other brother, Wes. W. Boucher \u201953<\/strong> was playing golf and could not attend the Boulder party. Greetings were sent to the Bouchers from Betty Fisher Armstrong<\/strong>, Ruth Dowdell<\/strong>, and Joyce Charles Larkin<\/strong>, all Class of 1950. Other greetings came from Jean Begun Andersen<\/strong>, Evelyn Guenther Helmer<\/strong> (maid of honor at the wedding), and Barbara Eddy Rose Owens<\/strong>, all Class of 1951. Ed Benton \u201950<\/strong> and Stephanie Jakimowitz Benton telephoned.<\/p>\n

Jo Garner Boatright ’57 (The photo was taken on Jo\u2019s 72nd birthday on top of Kit Carson Peak.)<\/p><\/div>\n

Jo Garner Boatright <\/strong>has returned to the Colorado mountains after a 40-year career in music performance and teaching. Jo moved to Buena Vista, Colo., with her husband, Harvey E. Boatright \u201953<\/strong>, when Harvey retired from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. In Buena Vista, they built a home\/ performance space on the Arkansas River. As artistic director for the Walden Chamber Music Society, Jo continues to perform with her professional colleagues from Dallas and Colorado in concerts at the Salida Steam Plant Theater. Jo\u2019s second passion, mountain climbing, has taken her to the tops of most of Colorado\u2019s 14ers. Jo invites all of you to her concerts (www.waldenchambermusic.org<\/span><\/a>) and\/or a hike in the Collegiate Peaks.<\/p>\n

Sandra Boyd and Leslie Storr, both Class of 1958, visited the Ronald Reagan Library in May. Said Leslie, who emailed us, “We were political science majors and have kept in touch over the years. This was a great day in Simi Valley, Calif., for both of us.”<\/p><\/div>\n

Terry Burk ’54, Moses Harrison ’54, and Bob Albee ’52, with their wives, reunited in Springfield, Ill., in summer 2009. They are pictured while on a tour of the Illinois Judicial Building led by Moses, retired chief justice of the Illinois Supreme Court. The tour was of special interest to Bob, a former justice of the Iowa Supreme Court. Later they continued their reunion at the Harrison home in Caseyville, Ill. The trio’s friendship originated as pledges and members of Phi Gamma Delta.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
