The Alumni Association Board (AAB)\u00a0Development Committee has the privilege of\u00a0interviewing outstanding applicants each spring\u00a0for the AAB Student Leader Scholarship. This loan-reducing\u00a0scholarship is intended to recognize\u00a0students for their leadership and service as students\u00a0while encouraging them to continue their\u00a0involvement with the college once they are alumni.<\/p>\n
Again this year, given the continued need\u00a0for financial aid and one of the largest applicant\u00a0pools in recent history, the development committee\u00a0was determined to award four scholarships.\u00a0To accomplish their goal, the committee reached\u00a0out to their fellow board members for the necessary\u00a0support. AAB members, inspired by an exceptional\u00a0group of CC students and a generous anonymous\u00a0donor, chipped in to fund the gap between funds\u00a0needed and the amount available. As a result of\u00a0the board\u2019s commitment to supporting CC\u00a0students, the scholarship will award more than\u00a0$18,000 for the 2010\u201311 academic year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was the second year that AAB members\u00a0\u2014 all of whom had already given to the annual\u00a0fund \u2014 dipped into their pockets to allow us to\u00a0give four scholarships.
