\"Chris<\/a>The Christopher Quon Memorial Fund was established in 2009 after Christopher Quon \u201909<\/strong> lost his life at the age of 22. Quon, an economics major at Colorado College from Lake Forest, Ill., had just begun his career as a financial analyst at Duff and Phelps in Chicago when he died unexpectedly from a heart condition. Quon was a member of the Colorado College men\u2019s lacrosse and soccer teams. More than 50 CC teammates and friends honored Quon at his memorial service, and both the soccer and lacrosse teams dedicated their 2009-10 season to his memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quon had a great desire to help others less fortunate, and in 2008 and 2009 he organized a CC community soccer tournament called the \u201cAnswer to Cancer.\u201d Proceeds from this tournament went to the American Cancer Society. To honor Quon\u2019s legacy, the soccer team continued this tournament in 2010, renaming it \u201cThe Quony Cup\u201d with the proceeds split between the American Cancer Society and the Christopher Quon Memorial Fund, which raised $4,500 in Quon\u2019s memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Quon was a member of the Class of 2009, he had an impact on others, as evidenced by the Class of 2010 giving their class gift in Quon\u2019s memory. The memorial fund was used to refurbish a space on the second floor in Tutt Library to create a comfortable, quiet study space, as Quon spent much of his time in the library. Additionally, the class planted an ivory silk Japanese lilac tree in his memory at the top of the Tiger Trail looking out at Pikes Peak and Washburn and Stewart fields, where he had competed.<\/p>\n
