The trustees unanimously\u00a0elected Tiefenthaler after a nationwide search conducted by a presidential search committee that included trustees, alumni, faculty, staff, and students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe set our sights high, seeking a\u00a0president who could combine a\u00a0collaborative leadership style with a penchant for getting things done. We sought a charismatic leader with a deep understanding\u00a0of the liberal arts, who relates effectively to students, parents,\u00a0alumni, and the world. We found all of that \u2013 and more \u2013 in Dr. Jill Tiefenthaler,\u201d said Suzanne Woolsey, chair of CC\u2019s Board of Trustees.\u00a0\u201cShe will enable Colorado College to be the best, and she is poised to become a national leader in defining the future of colleges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tiefenthaler said Colorado College\u2019s innovative spirit and strong commitment to liberal arts teaching appealed to her. \u201cI was looking for a place that shared my values \u2013 great faith in the liberal arts, faculty-student engagement, experiential education, diversity, and community \u2013 and that was also willing to take a few risks, with a goal of continually building academic excellence,\u201d Tiefenthaler said. \u201cI know I have found just the place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tiefenthaler, her husband, Wake Forest Economics Professor Kevin Rask, and their two children, Olivia, 12, and Owen, 9, plan to move to Colorado Springs in early summer.
