Swimming and Diving Team Rewrites Record Board <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Led by Jordan DeGayner \u201912<\/strong>, who was named Men\u2019s Swimmer of the Meet after winning three individual titles, the men\u2019s swimming and diving team posted its highest finish ever by taking third at the 2011 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships.<\/p>\n

Jordan DeGayner \u201912, center<\/p><\/div>\n

DeGayner broke a conference record while winning the 100-yard butterfly in 49.83 seconds. He also prevailed in the 50 (21.02) and 100 free (45.66), and his split of 1:40.13 in the 800 free relay was 2.16 seconds quicker than the winning time in the 200 free. DeGayner posted three NCAA \u2018B\u2019 qualifying times\u00a0and\u00a0six school records (three individual and three relays).<\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

Devin Wahl \u201912<\/strong> became the most decorated distance swimmer in program history by lowering records in the 500 (4:43.55), the 1,650 (16:50.28), and the 1,000 with his split of 10:12.41 in the 1,650 free. Tom Grossinger \u201911<\/strong> broke his own marks in the 100 (57.21) and 200 breaststrokes (2:07.87). CC records also fell in the 200 medley relay, 400 free relay and the 800 free relay.<\/p>\n

The CC women smashed 12 school records and finished in fifth place.<\/p>\n

Caroline Costley \u201914<\/strong> established a new standard in the 100 free with a second-place time of 52.80. She also set the mark in the 200 free with a time-trial clocking of 1:56.58. Both records were held briefly by teammate Brenna Day \u201914<\/strong> in the prelims of the 100 free and in the 800 free relay.<\/p>\n

Molly Brown \u201914<\/strong> lowered the 100-backstroke record three times, including a 1:00.30 in the finals. Her time of 2:11.10 in the finals of the 200 back also set a CC mark.<\/p>\n

Costley and Day contributed to relay records in the 200, 400, and 800 free relays, as well as the 200 medley relay, with Brown swimming leadoff in the medley. Also sharing relay records were Katie Burns \u201911<\/strong>, Carrie Markel \u201912<\/strong>, Whitney Petersen \u201912<\/strong>, and Malia Vitousek \u201912<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The teams combined for 24 school records in 19 events.<\/p>\n

DeGayner went on to compete in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle at the NCAA Division III Championships in\u00a0Knoxville,\u00a0Tenn.<\/p>\n

Head coach Anne Goodman James and assistant coach Chris Sullivan were honored as SCAC Men\u2019s Coaching Staff of the Year.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s Basketball <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Becky Luetjen \u201912<\/strong> became the second lady Tiger ever to earn first-team All-SCAC honors, joining Melanie Auguste \u201909<\/strong>. Sophomore forward Kalli Kemling<\/strong> earned honorable mention.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s Basketball <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Nick Rose '11<\/p><\/div>\n

Colorado College\u00a0received two of the SCAC\u2019s top honors when Nick Rose \u201911<\/strong> was named Player of the Year and Ryan Milne \u201914<\/strong> was tabbed Newcomer of the Year. Rose also was a first-team all-SCAC selection for the second straight year, while Milne earned a spot on the third team. Brady Ohlsen \u201911<\/strong> was honorable mention. Rose led the SCAC in scoring, averaging 21.9 points per game, and concluded his career ranked sixth on CC\u2019s career chart with 1,494 points. Ohlsen\u00a0concluded his career as CC\u2019s all-time rebounding leader, with 748, after averaging 7.8 per game\u00a0in 2010-11.<\/p>\n

Volleyball <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Emily Perkins \u201911<\/strong> closed out her career by receiving first-team All-America accolades from the American Volleyball Coaches Association for the second year in a row. Perkins is only the second player in the program\u2019s 32-year history to earn first-team honors twice or more. Juniors Meredith Ballard \u201912<\/strong> and Amy Schornack \u201912 <\/strong>were honorable-mention All-Americans again in 2010.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s Soccer <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Following in the footsteps of former Colorado College standout Molly Uyenishi \u201909<\/strong>, Tiffany Brown \u201911<\/strong> could be on the verge of a career with Women\u2019s Professional Soccer.<\/p>\n

Tiffany Brown \u201911<\/p><\/div>\n

Brown, a three-time All-Central Region forward whose 29 goals as a Tiger ties\u00a0\u00a0 her for fifth place on the program\u2019s all-time chart, earlier this week survived the initial tryout phase with the WPS Boston Breakers and was offered a spot on their preseason roster.<\/p>\n
