I was in the class of 1944\u00a0 at CC, but left in 1942 because of WWII, and finished my education at the U of Chicago with a B.S. in physics and a Ph.D. in economics. The only CC person I am still regularly in touch with is <strong>Betty Van Valkenburgh Lindeman \u201946<\/strong>, who married my best friend George Lindeman \u201944 (now deceased). Their son Ted is a professor at CC. Betty\u2019s sister <strong>Paula Van Valkenburgh Wardwell \u201944<\/strong> was in my class. <strong>Bob Clark \u201944<\/strong> and I exchange Christmas newsletters. Tom\u2019s grandfather, John F. \u201cHoney Fitz\u201d Fitzgerald, was the mayor of Boston in 1912, when he had the honor of throwing out the first pitch. Tom\u2019s wife produced the film, and together they\u00a0manage the company that owns it. \u201cThe River Why\u201d stars Zach Gilford, Amber Heard, and William\u00a0Hurt.<\/p>\n<h3>1969<\/h3>\n<p>Jane Lubchenco was a recipient of the Women In Technology International award during a three\u00a0day WITI Women Powering Technology Summit in Santa Clara, Calif. The awards are\u00a0considered among the most illustrious for women in science and technology. Jane is administrator of\u00a0the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
