Shan is executive director and a founding member of the Friends of Berthoud Pass in Colorado, a grassroots organization that uses knowledgeable backcountry volunteers to teach avalanche training classes to skiers free of charge.<\/p>\n<h3>1992<\/h3>\n<p>Filmmaker <strong>Daniel Junge<\/strong>\u2019s film \u201cSaving Face\u201d won an Academy Award for Best Documentary-Short Subject in February. Daniel says his time at CC and in Colorado Springs had a great impact on his career. He was previously nominated for an Oscar for \u201cThe Last Campaign of Governor Booth Gardner\u201d and an Emmy for \u201cThey Killed Sister Dorothy.\u201d \u2022 <strong>Noel Treat<\/strong> of Seattle has been named deputy city manager for Mercer Island, Wash. He was previously deputy superintendent for the Seattle School District.
