Greg Zimmerman<\/b> and Spenser Shadle \u201907<\/b> were awarded first prize in a national business plan competition held by the National Forest Foundation, which challenged students to think of creative, market-based solutions to forest restoration on public lands. The team received $50,000 for their plan, \u201cThe Deschutes Collaborate Conservation Fund \u2013 Sustainable Funding for a Restoration-Based Economy.\u201d The plan proposes the formation of a fund that rehabilitates Central Oregon\u2019s products industry and promotes forest health.<\/p>\n
