A new mural, installed in Spring 2013 in Cossitt Hall, pays tribute to the contributions of legendary dance artist and instructor Hanya Holm. For 43 summers, beginning in 1941, Holm conducted a summer course in dance at CC, mostly taught in Cossitt Gymnasium. Holm, a native of Germany, was a leading dance artist of the time and was one of four principal teachers at a summer dance school at Bennington College before starting the Hanya Holm-Colorado College Summer School of the Dance. In the 1950s and 1960s, she developed choreography for \u201cKiss Me Kate,\u201d \u201cMy Fair Lady,\u201d and \u201cCamelot\u201d on Broadway. The mural was painted by Trevor Thomas \u201910,<\/b> who is a prot\u00e9g\u00e9 of mural artist Eric Bransby \u201947<\/b>. Also featured in the triptych is Norman Cornick, who taught dance at the college from 1954-1984. Funding for the mural came from CC alumni who admire Thomas\u2019 work and whose lives were impacted by Holm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
