CC is dedicated to providing the finest liberal arts education in the country; to achieve this mission, the college seeks to foster a healthy learning environment and believes marijuana use conflicts with this mission.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s important to note that Amendment 64 removes the criminal penalties attendant to possession of marijuana for Colorado citizens over the age of 21; the majority of the CC student population is not of age under the new state law. Additionally, the federal Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act disallows the use of drugs including marijuana; if the college fails to comply, it could become ineligible for federal funding and financial aid programs for its students. The city of Colorado Springs does not allow the sale of recreational marijuana; sale within the city limits is restricted to medical marijuana, which the college\u2019s policy also prohibits.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colorado College has a long-standing policy against drug use on campus and within the college community, and that policy has not changed with Colorado\u2019s adoption of Amendment 64.
