Helen was an accomplished artist, art teacher, and writer who continued working until she was past 90. She died at the age of 94 in 1989.<\/p>\n<h3><b>1959\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b><\/b><b>Dave Van Metre<\/b> and his wife, <b>Carol Beery Van Metre \u201960<\/b>, were featured in the Omaha <i>World Herald<\/i> newspaper in June. The article called\u00a0the Van Metres \u201clocal sports\u2019 most valuable players\u201d and said they are credited with helping raise $35 million to upgrade parks and athletic facilities in Omaha, outfitting Boys &amp; Girls Clubs, and sprucing up weight and fitness centers. He is the chairman and chief executive officer of El Pomar Foundation, chairman of the U.S. Commission\u00a0on Public Diplomacy, president emeritus of the U.S. Olympic Committee, and a CC trustee.<\/p>\n<h3><b>1965 <\/b><b><\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Jeff Sauer<\/b>, former Colorado College hockey player and coach, was\u00a0one of four in the 2014 class inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame.\u00a0Jeff was profiled in the April 2014 <i>Bulletin<\/i>.<\/p>\n<h3><b>1968 <\/b><b><\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Doug Brown<\/b> has joined the Buckelew Programs board of directors. Until his retirement in 2011, he worked in the financial services industry for 28 years, most recently at Morgan Stanley Investment Management. David moved\u00a0to Steamboat in 1975 with his wife, Holly.<\/p>\n<h3><b>1969<\/b><b><\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Jane Lubchenco<\/b> has been appointed to the board of directors of The Nature Conservancy. She is a former administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Washington, D.C. Earlier this year, Nicki resigned after 22 years on the Wilmington, Vt., Development Review Board. He is executive director of LIS\u2019N (Living Support Network). He received his Ph.D. from Better Living International in Banff, Alberta, Canada, in 1992, and was named Man of the Year by that organization.<\/p>\n<p><b>Rick Zier<\/b> received a master\u2019s degree in history from Colorado State University in May. A history major, he served with the Peace Corps in Ethiopia before becoming an Episcopal priest. He has been chaplain at Shattuck-St. Mary\u2019s School in Faribault for 25 years and has worked with the local prison ministry and on the Red Cross board, and has been involved in many other community activities. He is known for sending nearly 3,000 birthday, holiday, and thank-you cards each year.<\/p>\n<h3><b>1977<\/b><b><\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Philip M. Genty<\/b>, a Columbia Law School professor, received a Presidential Award for Outstanding Teaching at the university\u2019s commencement ceremony May 21. Philip is director of the Prisoners and Families Clinic and the Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton &amp; Garrison Moot Court Program. He was one of five professors selected to receive the award from more than 500 nominations. The Harrises live in Dallas, where Alan practices law and serves as an arbitrator and mediator.<\/p>\n<h3><b>1978 <\/b><b><\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Sydney McNiff Johnson<\/b> has been elected to the board of directors of the American Council on Renewable Energy. She is also ambassador to the Department of Energy for its Clean Energy Education &amp; Empowerment (C3E) initiative. Sydney has been involved with energy policy for more than 30 years, beginning with her work on Capitol Hill with Congressman Pete McCloskey (R-Calif.) in 1978 as energy and environmental legislative assistant.
