4/9: Working Back from the Gravestone (Stratton Series with Inventor Michael White ’02)

Working Back from the Gravestone with Inventor Michael White ’02

Don’t know what you want to do with your life? Great. Neither does Stratton Series speaker and inventor Michael White (but he’s “successful” by many accounts). While it’s okay to have no idea, there are a few things we can do right now that can at least get us just a little bit closer to what we’re in it for.

This workshop is designed to give CC students practical advice on figuring out their next steps, and actions to take to get things rolling in this thing called life.

When: Thursday, April 9, 12:15pm
Where:
 McHugh Commons (above The Preserve)
RSVP? Yes! RSVP on Handshake.

About Michael White:

A New Yorker since graduating from CC with a degree in Studio Art in 2002, Michael White has a dynamic history full of twists and turns, from the art world to social services to innovation capability. For the past 8 years, Michael has been an Inventor at ?What If! Innovation, teaching employees and leaders at the world’s largest companies how to unlock innovation in their people and organizations.

Before that, Michael ran the volunteer program at Crime Victims Treatment Center, a place for healing for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and incest. AT CVTC, Michael recruited and trained community members to provide advocacy and counseling in the Emergency Room. And before that, he held a number of cool art jobs in NYC after moving there after graduating from CC.

After a few too many hiatus’s from artmaking, Michael has recently gotten back into creating in his free time and as part of a sabbatical created a series of light installations for show at Bushwick Open Studios. A few years back, he restored emotional balance to parking-ticket-getters in NYC with The Parking Ticket Emotional Reclamation Project. “Successful” by many accounts, Michael affirms that at 38, he’s just starting to figure out what he wants to do with his life.
