CIVIC LEADERSHIP SUMMER COORDINATOR
Supervisor: Director, Collaborative for Community Engagement             Division:  Academic Administration
**40 hours/week, June 1, 2021, – September 30, 2021

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Coordinate and implement active CCE student-facing work over the summer months; prepare and plan CCE student programs that enhance civic leadership skills for the 2021-2022 academic year; assess and develop CCE student programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Active Student-Facing Work in the Summer and early Fall: 

  • Contribute to the design, coordination, and implementation of the Bonner Fellowship summer application and selection process, in collaboration with CCE professional and student staff as well as the CC Admission Office.
  • Support the management of student staff that provide support to CCE programming, providing regular direction, support, and constructive feedback.  Possibility of supervising student staff in latter half of the summer.
  • Support students who have received Bonner “Summer of Engagement” funding for summer community internships.
  • Along with CCE staff, provide individualized advising, support and case management to CC students active in community work and CCE programs.
  • Lead and coordinate campus-wide NSO programming that seeks to introduce new students to CCE support and programs, with the CCE student summer intern team. 
    • Contribute to the planning and coordination of CCE NSO programing that seeks to provide onramps to community work as needed, under the direction of the Community Partnership Coordinator.
  • Design, lead, and coordinate, along with student interns, a Bonner orientation for incoming Bonners during block 1.
  • Design, lead, and coordinate beginning-of-the-year CCE programming, events, trainings, and recruitment for core student programs; to include but not limited to: recruitment, orientation and training for CES, PA, BreakOut.
  • Contribute to the design and facilitation of training for Co-op interns in early fall 2021.
  • Work with the CCE Administrative Assistant and student intern team to support active CCE social media platforms by gathering and sharing content and story ideas.
  • Ensure compliance to CCE risk management protocols, to include local, CC, and CCE COVID-19 precautions, guidelines, and policies.

Assessment and Planning for the 2020-2021 Academic Year:

  • With the contributions of CCE professional and student staff: lead the assessment, development, planning and preparation for the 2020-2021 academic year
  • Mentoring and advising systems for Fellows, Leaders, Co-op interns, and the Bonner Leadership Team.
  • Contribute to the assessment and design of CCE programming, resources, and support systems to align with strategic office goals.
  • Assist in designing and refining CCE student programs by researching and conducting outreach to models at peer and exemplar institutions.
  • Support portfolio management for students in CCE programs through the Summit system; deepen the CCE’s knowledge of student work, identify student leaders for programs, and organize students with shared goals.
  • Assist in the design of CCE communications by drafting or editing materials including website development, recruitment materials, and informative messaging, in collaboration with CCE staff.
  • Project management of the Student Programs Summer Intern in updating of the CCE website and Summit to reflect new student leadership for student organizations, as well as incoming students into the Bonner Fellowship, Community Engaged Leadership program, and Co-op.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree plus student leadership experience and experience working in or with a community-based organization; strong commitment to working for the public good and nuanced understanding of the purpose of community-engaged work; strong interpersonal and group facilitation skills; productive time management; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to think critically and solve problems; good judgment and ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion; budget management/analytical skills; excellent organizational, collaboration and customer service skills; ability to operate standard office equipment and to work evenings and weekends to participate in the activities of student-led initiatives.  Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Colorado College alum; strong preference for candidates interested in and able to commit to a full academic year position for 2021-2022, should a professional position be approved for which the candidate is qualified.
