#GRADSCHOOLBOUND: Austin Martin ‘18

After graduating, Austin will head to the University of Notre Dame in in South Bend, Indiana to pursue a Master’s of Science in Global Health.

I am excited to learn how to address health problems endemic to the global poor. I am excited to make connections between classroom training in global health topics and the real health needs of resource-poor populations around the world through the hands-on experience of the program’s capstone project. I am most excited about the potential to apply this global health knowledge to the practice of medicine either within the borders of the United States or abroad.

My advice for students thinking about grad school: Put yourself out there and don’t be afraid to get rejected. Open up plenty of doors for yourself, and always have a backup plan.

Congratulations, Austin!
